LADIES HISTORY

The Currow Ladies Club was founded in 1981 by Sean O'Sullivan and in 1982 the club was affiliated to the County Board. The first team formed was the U16 team. The club grew from strength to strength and in 1984 won their first competition, the U16 League and Championship. The clubs' greatest success to date came in 1987 when they won U14, U16, Minor League and Championship thus creating a little history. At present,  the club has U12, U14, U16, Minor and Junior teams. 

The club has had several players representing the County from U-14 level right up to the Senior Level over the years. In 1993, Kerry were U14 All Ireland Champions and the club were represented by 6 players - Denise Walsh, Aisling Geaney, Elaine Mitchell, Maura Brosnan, Jackie Ryan and Mairead O'Sullivan. In 1988, 1989 and 1990 Kerry were All Ireland Senior Champions and Michelle Walsh played on those teams.

Role of Honour:

1984 - U16 League and Championship

1985 - U16 League and Championship, Runner up in Minor Championship

1986 - U14 Championship, Runner up in U14 League, U16 League and Championship

1987 - U14 League and Championship, U16 League and Championship, Minor League and Championship

1988 - U14 League and Championship, U16 League and Championship, Minor Championship

1989 - Minor League

1990 - U12 League & Championship, Minor League

1991 - U12 Co Blitz winners

1992 - U14 Championship, Junior League

1993 - U14 League and Championship

1994 - U14 Championship, U16 South Kerry League
